Legendary moments from the career of three-time FIFA World Cup champion Pelé will be released as NFT and 90% of the proceeds will be donated to charities.

The NFT sector has reached out to Pelé, the living football legend. The Brazilian will have his own NFT collection honoring his legacy and will be released on the popular Ethernity Chain platform on May 2. 90% of the proceeds will be donated to the Pelé Foundation.

Pele's Legacy Will Live On As NFTS

Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known in the football world as Pelé, is the latest celebrity to embrace the fast-growing world of unchanged tokens. The three-time FIFA World Cup winner will immortalise his illustrious career on the blockchain-based NFT platform Ethernity chain on May 2, 2021.

The statement outlined the massive fan adoption of physical old Pelé football cards, some of which will be the inspiration for the upcoming digital NFTS. Ethernity Chain is planning a follow-up later in the year, with the first batch scheduled for release on May 2.

It is worth noting that the majority (90%) of the proceeds will be used to fund the Pelé Foundation. A charity focused on empowering and educating children struggling with poverty around the world.

Previous efforts have included NFTS for BossLogic and skateboarding legend Tony Hawk . What's more, Ethernity Chain plans to launch a digital collection for major boxing giant Muhammad Ali.

Interestingly, Pele isn't the first celebrity football player to join the NFT craze. As previously reported , FC Barcelona's superstar Gerard Piqué became a strategic adviser on an NFT platform called Sorare, just months after his team released official Barca fan tokens.

The NFTS have also reached out to other sports, including some of the most prominent U.S. leagues, the NBA, MLB and the NFL. Football Giant Tom Brady will launch an NFT platform later this year called Autograph, which aims to develop personal unique digital artwork for other celebrities .

Toronto Blue Jays CEO Mark Shapiro outlined the potential to increase fan interaction with the NFL and confirmed that MLB is looking for ways to gain advantage.
